We bought this house at the end of August 2006 and moved into
it in the beginning of October. Since then we had to divide our time
between the needed improvements on this house and improvements and repairs on
the old house in addition to our regular jobs. As of October 2007, we are almost finished with the old
house and then we can focus entirely on this house. I think we came a long way in
a short period of time. Heaven knows what we can get accomplished when all
we have to contend with is this house.
One of the first things we did was enlarge the single car
driveway and replace the existing walkway along with the front steps.

Along the driveway we also replaced the
steps and sidewalk leading to the back patio. Afterwards we rebuilt
the stone wall and landscaped a bit. Hopefully next year we will add
a pond or waterfall in the area the stone wall surrounds. |

The front steps were in need of repair and the rhododendrons were far too
big and wild. After removing them, quite a few neighbors commented
that they never knew that this house had a front porch. The downside to
removing the bushes was that a very big portion of the front yard was destroyed
in the process.

We fenced the back yard due to having 2 adult
Dobermans, Lulu and Max. Since then Lulu has passed away and Max has the
backyard all to himself. |

We show an old picture and one where we are pouring a new patio. We are
in the process this fall adding new railings to the back patio. |

We haven't had the time to do anything with the Family Room
in the basement. We hope that will be our winter project. Here are a few
pictures. We look forward to re-doing this room and showing the changes.
One thing we won't change is the knotty pine panelling. When adding electrical
outlets, we found that this wood is an entire 1 inch thick...this kind of wood
one couldn't afford or probably even find today.
More pictures will be added as we progress. Overall,
for being in the new house 1 full year, we have accomplished a lot!!!
