| There is a wise old saying
"You can choose your friends, but you cannot choose your family" which
holds true today. But knowing who you are can only be accomplished if you
know where (and from whom) you were born. Surely every family tree has
its share of nuts, rotten apples and crooked branches, and we certainly
have and have had ours. Our time on this earth is very short and
before you know it we ourselves will be only memories and pictures to our
children and our younger relatives. Today is so very precious because
tomorrow may never happen. I feel very fortunate that I was able to spend many
years living near and with my parents and brother and was able to be there
to help them along during their good times as well as the bad. I would not
trade the years of caring for them during their respective illnesses for anything...I
was just happy to have them with me for as long as I did.
Hopefully these pages will provide
information to our families on both sides to help fill in some spaces and
provide some insight. In today's world with so many extended families it
isn't necessarily blood relatives that makes the family...caring and
compassion for each other in the home environment does, but where we came
from is something everyone wants to know sooner or later.
Someone once said "Life is what you
make it" and that surely is true. Losing touch with
family both past and present is losing touch with part of yourself.
We hope these pages can help you touch the past while living in the
present.
