Friday we decided to give Jan a break from taking us places and opted to just spend time in Kosice. We spent the afternoon shopping the length of the Centrum and sightseeing. Kosice is a remarkable town with a very old and rich history with many of the buildings dating back centuries, such as St. Elizabeth Cathedral built in the 1300's. The Centrum is a shopping Mecca which Pam and Rachel enjoyed and they found all the Slovak cut crystal they were seeking and at a price far below of what it is in the states. Even the many gypsies found the trash bins along the Centrum a bonanza.

Later, we visited with Anna Blaskova, a very nice woman we have been in contact with for the past couple of years. The Christmas and Easter cards were nice but to finally meet in person was especially nice. She invited us to her apartment and it was truly enjoyable. I was served the traditional Slivovica and Rachel tried a little lighter stuff.

After the long, tiring day we just had a nice dinner at the hotel and were ready for what the next day would have in store for us.
