Thursday we visited Jan and Gabriela in the village of Vysna Mysla which is about 9 miles southeast of Kosice. What a lovely house and property. With a nice garden, fruit trees, chickens and it was just the kind of setting we hope to find when we move out of the city and into the country. We had a delicious lunch and we hope Gabriela sends us her recipe for the wonderful soup.

Next we traveled to the Herlany geyser. The eruption time was changed so we ended up there far too early and didn't stay to see it. It was truly amazing to see all the people gathered around waiting for this event that happens every 32 to 36 hours. While there Gabriela decided to refresh herself with mineral spring water and Jan kind of helped her a bit.:)

Afterwards we ventured to my ancestral village of Novy Salas, where Jan's parents live. On the way just a couple miles from Novy Salas we were able to see the ruins of the Slanec Castle. It was a brief visit with Jan's parents but Arianna seemed to have no trouble making some new friends, despite the language barrier. We promised to spend most of the day visiting there on Monday. The last picture was a nightly occurence, Rachel had to email and instant message all her friends back home.
